Upon my re-entrance into the everyday world, I was amazed and shocked at what the media, twitters, blogs, etc. are all up in arms about.

Radio Talk hosts, would be panelists, and even a disgraced convicted felon, G. Gordon Liddy, who was sent to prison for 20 years (although he only served 4), for conspiracy, burglary, and wire tapping, are now experts on whether President Barack Obama should be in office. What more stellar citizens and witnesses could anyone possibly want?

They are convinced, and have managed to manipulate hundreds of would be followers, that the President of these United States, duly elected by we, the people, is not a U. S. citizen!

Even the most illogical of persons can see the ridiculousness of all this. By the way, the dictionary states that “Ridiculousness” is “To be completely unreasonable and not at all sensible or acceptable”. It also gives another definition, “Silly and amusing”, isn’t that the truth!

Of course, logic has never entered into any of the claims that have surfaced since he took office, but what the heck, did logic ever convince anyone who wears blinders, and walks the straight unwavering path to a conclusion, reached before any evidence is presented?

Try talking some sense into some of these clods, and it is like talking to a stone wall. They are righteously upset, even spittle forms on their mouths, along with racial epitaphs.

I thought that we, as a country, had advanced forward and left a lot of this behind, but then I am, as the song goes “A cock-eyed optimist”, who tries to look for the good side in everyone. Sad to say, I have failed miserably in this when speaking to some of these people.

I can not honestly convey to you that all of them are Republicans, but the majority exists. How can a party, who lost the election, and most of their seats in Congress, pay back?  Their methods have always been questionable; rumors, slanted writings, back stabbing, you name it, and of course using the media.

How I wish we still had Walter Cronkite reporting to us. May he rest in peace in journalistic heaven, where the truth is always foremost.

I have been reading, viewing, listening, and growing angrier by the minute, at the comments made by Republicans concerning the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor by President Obama for the post of Justice of the Supreme Court.

Judge Sotomayor has drawn the ire of one of the loudest mouths of that party, Rush Limbaugh, who has called her a racist.  Racist?  This by the man whose picture appears in every dictionary next to that word?  He who has positioned himself against blacks, browns, yellows, gays, native Americans, and every ethnic group outside his immediate group of elitists?

Let’s see, Judge Sotomayor is an American, a woman, and a Hispanic, in that order.  This last description is the key word to his ramblings, he is ignoring the fact that she has been an outstanding presence in the Judiciary for many years, a Court of Appeals Judge, nominated by President Bill Clinton.  Even at that early date, Limbaugh was already calling her an “ultra liberal” who was on a “rocket ship” to the highest court.

I would put her record, from humble beginning, against any person whom Limbaugh lauds. She was born in the Bronx, a borough of New York City.  Her father was Puerto Rican, who came to the this country so his children would have a better life.  Have you heard that before, in my writings?

Sonia was diagnosed with diabetes at an early age.  She has stated that at the age of 10, she decided she wanted to be an attorney, and worked her whole life towards that goal.  She earned scholarships to both Princeton and Yale.

The comment that she made and for which she has been called racist, was when she stated that as a Latina with modest beginnings, and a lifetime of experience, she would be better qualified than a while male with her qualifications.  I strongly agree with her.

Holy Sheet!  The Republicans jumped on that ship and have been sailing high ever since.  Notice that her comments had both “woman and Latina”, a red flag to ultra conservatives.  How typical.

They have said that they do not plan to filibuster her nomination, but knowing their methods, I am sure they will make every endeavor  to make her life hell.  They are not quite so stupid as to go against the growing Hispanic voters, but will make her nomination a very steep climb to that coveted Supreme Court spot.

I hope they fail miserably.

President-Obama-announces-Judge-Sonia-Sotomayor-as-his-Supreme-Court-Justice-nominee-in-Washington

While watching the news on television, and reading the daily newspapers and magazines, I was a tat confused. Did we not have an election where Barack Obama became president? Were we back in the quagmire of the Bush administration?

The confusion arose because Dick Cheney is again feeding fear mongering to the masses. Although he is no longer Vice President, he seems to be ignoring that fact. His mission in life now is to undermine and undercut anything that the present administration is doing.

Eight years of the Republican rule which brought disaster to the American people was not enough for him, he wants to continue with the failed policies of the past.

Now he has taken on former Secretary of State Colin Powell, claiming that Mr. Powell is no longer a Republican. King Cheney is now donning the cloak of royalty and declaring who is and is not a member of his party. This is welcome news to radio commentator Rush Limbaugh, who is trying his hardest to be known as “THE” leader.

They both decided that since Mr. Powell endorsed President Obama in the last election, he has become a Democrat.

We would welcome him with open arms, but he has declared the two “champions of the Republican right” are very wrong. He stated “Rush will not get his wish, and Mr. Cheney was misinformed”. Those are indeed kind words considering the barrage hurled at him.

While most loyal Democrats, and I consider myself one, will regale at the in-fighting among Republicans, I find that I commiserate with Mr. Powell.

He is a war hero, who has served his country admirably for many years. Cheney never served in the military, taking every deferment available to keep him out of the army during the Vietnam war. He has declared he had “other priorities”. Limbaugh was classified as 4-F, making him not healthy enough to serve, a football injury, you know. What starting assurances!

My suggestion would be that Limbaugh discontinue to inflame his audience, and that Cheney go back to that “undisclosed” location where he has been hiding.
